My name is Claudia Sijstermans. I am a dedicated senior compliance professional with fifteen years’ experience in compliance & ethics program management and deep subject matter expertise in Governance, Risk & Compliance at manufacturing companies with a global supply chain (Chemicals and High Tech).
I am used to and highly skilled at collaborating across diverse businesses and at engaging stakeholders from the factory floor to executive level, across departments, industries and international borders. And have a proven record of success in designing, implementing and monitoring comprehensive risk & control strategies and compliance programs.
My approach can be summarized as: * Identify & Engage * Analyze & Assess * Design & Evaluate * Execute & Solve. Starting with identifying risks as well as opportunities to make compliance work (better), while engaging with stakeholders to achieve awareness and commitment. Analyzing current (best) practices and assessing what needs to be achieved to close the gap between the current situation and the desired future end state. Design a solution and evaluate this with the stakeholders in order to keep them involved and ensure commitment for the result. My expertise and passion for GRC enable me to develop and embed effective risk, compliance and integrity frameworks and programs as well as monitoring and assessing their effectiveness. Aim is to be ahead of curve with user centric policies, tools and training. Through compliance by design and gamification I try to make sure that even unconsciously unaware employees do things the right way.
Purpose for Compliance and Integrity To be a thought leader, a relentless companion on the journey from a shared purpose to action, going there where there is no path yet, creating new paths, leaving a legacy as a trail for others to follow. Career After working as a tax consultant for 10 years, Claudia worked as a corporate compliance manager at ASML in 2015 and later at AkzoNobel. Industry agnostic, she worked in the chemical and high tech industry and in various compliance domains, with a particular focus on merger compliance (2014), trade/supply chain compliance (2016), and Anti Bribery & Corruption (2022). She designed several Risk and Control Frameworks and Corporate Compliance Programs. Work on this included a gap analysis of the as-is compared to the to-be situation, risk and maturity assessments, scenario planning, interviews with stakeholders throughout the company and strategic road-maps to bridge the gap. She also has experience with the global roll out of software applications including change management as to ensure the solutions are embedded effectively in the organisation.
